Xawery Wolski artistic language is based on reflection upon time and space. His work is executed in natural materials such as earth, fired clay, bronze and stone. His interest for terracotta and it’s multiple anthropological meanings lead him to Peru and Mexico where he investigated ancient materials and ways of expression with the purpose of creating contemporary artwork. He participated in several residency programs in South America, Asia and India. He returned to Poland in 2021 to create an Art Foundation in his family estate in Dańków.

The main strand of the work focuses on unraveling the capacity of matter to withstand the passage of time. This confrontation is the main aim of material poetics which he develops in his art. Its emphasis is shifted onto the properties of materials and the capacity for forming them into metaphors.

”I am interested in creating bridges of communication permitting past and present appear in unity; and with hope that the dialogue in time and space continues in order for new configurations to be found.”
